“MAY THE CRY OF THOSE WHO ARE BROKEN BECOME OUR OWN!”
Hurricane Matthew, one of the strongest storms in nearly a decade, has had a disastrous impact on Haiti these past two days. Thousands of people have been affected. Many lives have been lost. Many homes have been destroyed and thousands are now facing the uncertainty of life. It remains evident that this hurricane which has led to the devastation of Haiti, as this country has been trying to recover from the 2010 earthquake, is going to lead to greater misery and possibly a humanitarian crisis.
One way to prevent the worst from happening to these good people of Haiti is to begin to extend our hands to them by making their cry become our own. In light of that, we are requesting your prayers as well as your support.
“In this Holy Year of Mercy”
Pope Francis stated,
“We look forward to the experience of opening our hearts to those living on the outermost fringes of society. Let us open our eyes and see the misery of the world, the wounds of our brothers and sisters who are denied their dignity, and let us recognize that we are compelled to heed their cry for help!
May we reach out to them and support them so they can feel the warmth of our presence, our friendship, and our fraternity!”
He went on to write that
“The Church will be called even more to heal these wounds, to assuage them with the oil of consolation, to bind them with mercy and cure them with solidarity and vigilant care.”
Such act of solidarity will be exemplified by donating items such as:
» Baby Food
» Building Materials
» Canned Food
» Flash Lights
» Medical Supplies (Basic First Aid)
» School Supplies
Notre Dame D’Haiti will be graciously accepting your donations as we continue to provide our support to victims of Hurricane Matthew.
